Notifications

The messages the platform sends you, and when. Only behaviour confirmed in the product is listed here.

Emails to people

These emails are sent through the organization's own email provider, which a platform administrator sets up on the Organization page (Email tab). If no provider is active, the invitation cannot be sent and you see a message saying so. The emails are plain text with a link.

Email Subject When it is sent What it asks you to do
Invitation You have been invited to your organization An administrator adds you as a user, or selects Resend. Select the link and choose a password. The link works once and expires after 7 days.
Access granted You now have access to your organization An administrator adds someone who already has a sign-in. Sign in with your existing password. Use Forgot password if you have forgotten it.
Password reset Reset your organization password You ask to reset your password on the sign-in page. Select the link and choose a new password. The link works once and expires after 60 minutes.
Test email Chosen by the sender A platform administrator selects Send test email on the Email tab. Nothing; it checks that sending works.

Notes:

  • Resend withdraws the old invitation link and sends a new one.
  • A Customer Portal user's invitation names the customer's portal; a staff user's names the Control Tower.
  • A customer administrator created from the Control Tower Customers screen is created directly with a password and receives no email.
  • If an invitation link says it has expired or was already used, ask your administrator to resend it. See Frequently asked questions.

Notifications inside the portals

The Customer Portal has a bell at the top right with an unread count, Mark all as read, and a settings icon. The Dashboard shows the six newest as Latest updates: blue is information, amber a warning, red an alert.

Your notification settings

Select the settings icon in the bell's list to choose channels. Your settings open in the same small list; the back arrow returns you to your notifications, and the expand button opens them in the larger notifications window (see Notifications). The channels are a row of buttons; select a button to turn that channel on (it turns green) and select it again to turn it off. In-app works today. Email and Push choices are saved but are delivered only once those senders are switched on. You can also switch each kind of notification on or off. The switches are grouped by topic, and you see only the ones that can reach you:

  • Orders: Order created, Order updated, Order deleted / cancelled, Order status changed, Order delayed, and in the Customer Portal Order submitted.
  • Delivery windows (Customer Portal): Delivery time proposed, Window approved, Alternative time proposed, Alternative time accepted, Window rejected, Alternative time declined and Equipment ready.
  • Documents (Customer Portal): Document ready.
  • Billing (Customer Portal): Invoice issued.
  • Alerts (Control Tower): SLA breached.

A warning that a driver's document is about to expire has no switch. It always reaches you, because an expired document can stop a driver working.

A customer's administrator can customise the text of customer-facing notifications.

Each person has their own list: reading a notification, or choosing Mark all as read, clears it for you only, not for your colleagues at the same customer.

Alerts and confirmations while you work

  • Short messages at the top or bottom of a screen confirm what you just did, for example "Invitation sent to ..." on a users screen or " is now " in the Customer Portal.
  • In the Admin portal, Job finished and Job failed appear when a background job ends. See Statuses.
  • On the Customer Portal Dashboard, attention cards (Windows awaiting my approval, Alternatives to review, Equipment to confirm, Delayed shipments) and an amber count beside Window requests in the menu show work waiting for you.

From the driver app

  • Report to dispatch raises a live alert to Dispatch in the Control Tower.
  • Confirm delivery makes the proof of delivery visible to the customer in the Customer Portal within seconds.
  • A dispatcher's reply appears in the driver's Messages, and unread messages show as a red number. See Driver messages.
  • A failed vehicle check blocks dispatch until it is cleared.
