Create organization

What this screen is for

Use this screen to add a new customer organization. When you save, the platform starts building the organization's own space: its database, storage, sign-in realm and first administrator. This building work is called provisioning (see Glossary).

Who can see it

Platform administrators.

Where to find it

Click Create organization on the Dashboard or on Organizations. The page shows Organizations as a link at the top.

What you see

One form with three cards. A red message beside a field tells you what to fix, and a banner at the top says Fix the highlighted fields.

Basic

  • Name (required). Letters, digits, spaces and the characters - _ & . and an apostrophe only. It cannot be only digits.
  • Slug (required). Two to twenty characters: lower-case letters, digits and hyphens. It fills in from the name until you type your own. It is fixed once created, because it names the organization's resources and its Keycloak realm. Keycloak is the identity provider, the service that handles sign-in.
  • Description. Optional notes.

Infrastructure

  • Provider. Shown but not changeable. One installation of the platform provisions one kind of organization.
  • Region (required). Choose where the organization is hosted.
  • One panel per resource, such as the database or storage. Each panel is marked Required or Optional and has its own fields. Optional panels have an Include tick box. A panel marked (Provisioned) already exists.

Which resources and fields appear depends on the provider, so your screen may show different fields from a colleague's.

Admin user

The organization's first administrator. This person signs in to the organization's own application, not to this Admin console.

  • Email (required)
  • Phone, in international format such as +97412345678
  • First name (required) and Last name
  • Password (required). A checklist under the box turns on as you meet each rule: 8 or more characters, an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter, a digit and a symbol. Show and Hide reveal what you typed.

What you can do

  1. Fill in Basic.
  2. Choose a Region and complete the resource panels.
  3. Fill in the Admin user.
  4. Click Create organization. The button shows Creating….
  5. On success you see a message and land on the new organization page, where you can watch provisioning progress.

Click Cancel to leave without saving.

Feature flags, single sign-on and currency are not set here. After creating the organization, click Configure on its page.

Popups and panels

This screen has no popups.

Tips

  • An email that already administers another organization is refused.
  • If provisioning fails after you save, nothing is lost. Open the organization and use the Provisioning tab to retry.
  • Pass the password to the administrator securely. It is not shown again.
