Order batches

What this screen is for

A batch is the exact set of orders that one planning run will plan. This screen lists every batch you have assembled, so you can open one to change what is in it, rename it, delete it, or jump to its plan.

Who can see it

Everyone who signs in to the Control Tower sees this screen. What each role may change is set by your organisation's administrator; see Roles & permissions.

Where to find it

Order batches in the left-hand menu, under OPERATIONS.

What you see

A short description at the top, a New batch button, and a table with one row per batch:

Column Meaning
BATCH The batch name, with the date it was created and who created it.
GATHERED FROM The planning wave the batch was started from, or Assembled by hand.
ORDERS How many orders are ready to plan. If the batch holds more than that, a second line says how many are in the batch; the rest have moved past planning (for example they were published or cancelled) and a new run would not be given them.
OPERATING DAY The requested date of the orders. spans days in amber means they are not all for the same day.
ACTIONS The buttons below.

If you have no batches yet, the screen says so and invites you to create one.

What you can do

Create a batch.

  1. Click New batch.
  2. In the Batch name and source dialog, type a unique name and, if you like, choose a wave.
  3. Click Create batch. You are taken straight into the Batch builder to choose the orders.

Open a batch. Click the row, or Open, to go to the Batch builder.

Open its plan. If a planning run already exists for the batch, a green button appears. It reads Open plan #n while the plan is still being reviewed and View plan #n once it has been published. It opens the Planning board on that run.

Rename a batch. Click Rename, change the name, click Save.

Delete a batch. Click Delete and confirm. The confirmation says how many orders the batch holds. Deleting releases them back to the pool of eligible orders so they can go into another batch. It does not cancel or unplan any order.

Popups and panels

Batch name and source

Opens from New batch and Rename (also from Rename inside the batch builder).

  • Batch name (required, must be unique), for example "Tuesday AM · Doha".
  • Gathered from: optionally pick a planning wave. This only records where the batch came from. It does not limit what you can add, and changing the wave later does not move any order in or out.
  • Create batch or Save stores it. Cancel closes the dialog.

Tips

  • My batch says 0 ready to plan. Its orders have all moved on, or it is empty. It is greyed out in the Planning board's batch list.
  • A batch cannot be created with a name that exists. Names must be unique.
  • Order missing from the builder's list. An order can sit in only one batch. Look in your other batches first.
