Driver messages¶
What this screen is for¶
Driver messages is the dispatcher's end of the conversation with drivers. A message a driver sends from the cab in the Driver app appears here, and a reply you type here appears in the driver's app. Keeping both halves in one place means communication with drivers is on the record.
Who can see it¶
Organisation staff signed in to the Control Tower. This screen does not have a separate permission of its own.
Where to find it¶
Driver messages is not in the left-hand menu. The screen is open to you by its page address: the Control Tower address followed by /driver-messages. Nothing on the other Control Tower screens links to it in this version, so you may want to bookmark it.
What you see¶
Driver threads (left). A heading shows the total number of unread messages, for example "DRIVER THREADS · 3 UNREAD". Below it is one row per driver who has a conversation:
- The driver's name and the time of the last message.
- A red number badge when that driver has unread messages.
- A one-line preview of the last message. If the last message was sent by dispatch, the preview starts with "You:".
With no conversations the list says "No driver conversations yet."
Conversation (right). The selected driver's name, then their messages in order. Messages from dispatch sit on the right in blue; messages from the driver sit on the left in grey. Each message shows who wrote it and when. Under the messages is a text box that says Reply to the driver's name, and a Send button.
If nobody is selected the right-hand side says "Pick a driver to read the conversation."
What you can do¶
- Open a conversation. Select a driver in the list. When you first open the screen, the first driver in the list is opened for you.
- Reply. Type in the box and select Send, or press Enter. Empty messages are not sent. The reply appears in the driver's app.

Tips¶
- I do not see a driver. The list shows drivers who have a conversation. There is no button on this screen to start a new one.
- Replies are kept. What you send stays in the thread alongside the driver's own messages.
