Finance¶
What this screen is for¶
Finance gives you the money position at a glance: what you have earned this month, what it cost, what customers owe you, and how much revenue is exposed to service-level penalties. It is a read-only summary. The screen title reads Finance & settlement. For the day-to-day bills and invoices, use Billing and invoicing.
Who can see it¶
Organisation staff signed in to the Control Tower. This screen does not have a separate permission of its own, and it has nothing to edit.
Where to find it¶
Finance is not in the left-hand menu. Open it from the Revenue at risk tile on the Overview by selecting the Open Finance button in the pop-up that tile opens.
What you see¶
Six figure cards (top).
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Revenue MTD | Revenue earned so far this month, with the change shown underneath. |
| Cost MTD | What the month's work has cost so far, with a breakdown underneath. |
| Gross margin | Revenue less cost as a percentage, against the target margin shown underneath. |
| AR outstanding | The amount customers still owe you (accounts receivable), with DSO underneath. DSO is the average number of days customers take to pay. |
| Overdue | The part of that amount past its due date, with the number of invoices and the age of the oldest one. |
| Revenue at risk | Money you could lose to SLA penalties on orders that are blocked or running late. |
Margin by customer – MTD (left). One bar per customer showing revenue for the month and its margin percentage. The bar is green at 30% or more, light green from 25%, and amber below that.
Revenue at risk – SLA penalties (right). The total at the top, then one line per affected order with the customer, a note explaining the risk and the penalty amount. Amounts of 10,000 or more are shown in thousands.
What you can do¶
- Open an order from the risk list. Select a line that has an order behind it; the order opens in a side panel. Lines with no order are not clickable.
There are no other buttons; every figure is calculated from your orders, invoices and contracts.
Popups and panels¶
This screen has no popups of its own. Selecting an order opens the standard order panel described on the Orders page.
Related¶
- Billing and invoicing – raise, view and chase bills and invoices.
- Settlements – turn delivered work into something billable.
- Contracts and rates – the penalties come from the SLA terms agreed there.
- Glossary – SLA, DSO and margin.
Tips¶
- The figures look different from Billing. Finance counts the whole month and the whole organisation; Billing lists individual documents.
- A customer's margin is amber. Compare it with the target on the Gross margin card. A low margin usually points to rates in Contracts and rates.
