Ad-hoc dispatch

What this screen is for

Ad-hoc dispatch used to be a separate screen for crewing a single order outside a plan. It no longer exists as a screen of its own. There is now one place to dispatch and monitor work: the Dispatch board. This page is kept so that links and bookmarks to the old name still land somewhere helpful.

Who can see it

Not applicable. There is no separate Ad-hoc dispatch screen to open, and nothing in the menu is called by that name.

Where to find it

Use Dispatch board in the left-hand menu, under OPERATIONS.

What you see

Nothing separate. Everything you could ask of a single order's dispatch now lives on the Dispatch board:

  • which trip an order is on, and who is driving it (also shown in Order details);
  • assigning a driver, recording confirmation and starting the trip;
  • the vehicle and driver readiness check, with a reason-based override;
  • exceptions, re-plans and a history of every action on the trip.

What you can do

To put an order on the road, plan it and publish the plan:

  1. Make sure the order has been accepted on the Orders screen.
  2. Put it in a batch using the Batch builder.
  3. Run the optimiser and publish the plan on the Planning board.
  4. Assign the driver and start the trip on the Dispatch board.

Popups and panels

None.

Tips

  • An order shows "Not dispatched". It is on no trip yet. Check whether it is in a published plan.
  • An order shows "Awaiting assignment". It is on a trip, but the trip has no driver. Assign one on the Dispatch board.
