Live map

What this screen is for

The Live map shows where every vehicle in your fleet is right now, whether or not it is carrying an order. Use it to find a truck, see which ones have stopped reporting, and look into a vehicle without leaving the map. The screen title reads Live fleet map.

Who can see it

Organisation staff signed in to the Control Tower. This screen does not have a separate permission of its own.

Where to find it

The Live map has no entry in the left-hand menu. Open it from a Control Tower tile, for example the Open Live map button on the ETA compliance tile on the Overview, or from the map shortcut on an in-transit order in Orders.

What you see

Summary strip (top). One small card each for:

  • Fleet – all vehicles.
  • Running – vehicles that are moving.
  • On order – vehicles currently carrying an order.
  • Idle – vehicles that are reporting but standing still.
  • Offline – vehicles that have stopped reporting.
  • Avg speed – the average speed of the fleet, in km/h.
  • Off route – vehicles that have left their planned route. The number turns red when it is above zero.

Vehicle list (left).

  • A search box. Type a plate, a driver, a trip or order number, a customer, a zone or a vehicle type; the list and the map narrow to match.
  • Three status chips, Running, Idle and Offline. Select one to show only those vehicles; select it again to clear it.
  • A counter such as "5 OF 12 VEHICLES".
  • One row per vehicle with a coloured dot, the plate, the current speed, the driver (or Unassigned), the vehicle type and either the order and customer it is carrying or the zone it is in. A red OFF ROUTE tag appears when the vehicle has left its planned route.

Map (right). Each vehicle is a marker coloured by status. Shaded circles show your zones (depots, customer sites and restricted areas). Select a marker for a short pop-up with the plate, type, driver, speed, zone and order. When exactly one vehicle matches your search, the map focuses on it.

How the three statuses are decided (see also Statuses and stages):

Label Meaning
Running The vehicle reported in the last 15 minutes and is moving faster than 5 km/h.
Idle The vehicle reported in the last 15 minutes and is at or below 5 km/h.
Offline No position has arrived for more than 15 minutes. The map shows where it was last seen, not where it is now.

The screen refreshes itself every few seconds, so you do not need to reload it.

What you can do

  1. Find a vehicle. Type in the search box, or select a status chip.
  2. Look into a vehicle. Select its row in the list or its marker on the map. A detail panel opens on the right (see below), and the map draws the planned route and the path the vehicle has actually driven.
  3. Open an order. In the list, the detail panel or the marker pop-up, select the order number to open the order.
  4. Close the detail panel. Select the x in its header, or select the same vehicle again in the list.

Popups and panels

Vehicle panel

Opens when you select a vehicle. Select the ? beside the plate for help on this panel. It shows:

  • The plate, the vehicle's assignment status chip (for example On trip or Available), the vehicle type and capacity.
  • FLEET MASTER – depot, make and model and year, when they are on file.
  • A grey notice Offline – last fix ... when the vehicle has stopped reporting, reminding you the position shown is old. A red notice shows how many metres the vehicle is off its planned route when that is more than 800 m.
  • TELEMETRY – status, speed, heading, zone, odometer and how long ago the last position arrived (shown in red after 15 minutes).
  • DRIVER – name, depot, hours driven today (amber from 9 hours, red from 10) and safety score.
  • ORDERS ON THIS TRIP – each order with its time window, customer and destination. Select an order to open it.
  • RECENT EVENTS – a short history tagged TRIP, ZONE (entered or left a zone) or EVENT (a driving violation).

Tips

  • A vehicle you expect is missing from the list. Check the search box and the status chips; a chip left selected hides the other statuses.
  • A vehicle is "On trip" in Fleet but shows Offline here. The two are different things. Fleet shows what dispatch has set; the map shows whether the vehicle is actually reporting. An on-trip vehicle that is offline is exactly the situation to chase.
  • The position looks stale. If the notice says Offline, the vehicle has not reported for over 15 minutes.
