Orders¶
What this screen is for¶
Orders is where you decide whether each new order is correct and may move on to planning. It has two views: the intake queue, where every order gets one decision (accept or decline), and a flat list of all orders for finding any single order at any stage.
Who can see it¶
Everyone who signs in to the Control Tower sees this screen. What each role may change is set by your organisation's administrator; see Roles & permissions.
Where to find it¶
Orders in the left-hand menu, under OPERATIONS. A red number beside it counts orders currently in the Exception stage.
What you see¶
The screen opens on Order intake & validation. A link at the top right switches to the other view (All orders, flat list →, and ← Back to intake to return).
Intake view¶
- Summary tiles across the top, computed from the orders in the queue.
- Alert bar. If any orders cannot move on, a red bar says how many and lists the most common reasons. Show the queue → filters to them.
- Filter chips, each with a count: All, Pending Resolution (orders still waiting for a decision, blocked ones first) and Accepted (orders already let through, kept visible so a decision is never lost).
- The table, with these columns:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ORDER | Order number (hover for a quick card, click for details), a High or Low priority tag, and the customer's reference or where the order came from (customer portal, bulk upload, API, or entered by GWC). |
| CUSTOMER | The customer and the service booked. |
| PICKUP → DELIVERY | Where the goods are collected and delivered. |
| ORDER DATE | The requested date and time window. Not set in red means the order has no date. |
| LOAD | Weight and temperature class. |
| VALIDATION | The verdict, and the first reason if there is one. |
| ACTION | The buttons for this order. |
The verdict is one of Needs correction (a check failed and blocks the order), Accept with warnings (it can go on, but something deserves a look), Clean (every check passes) or Accepted (already let through). See the statuses reference.
Click a row to expand it. For an order still waiting, it lists every check with a tag of Blocks, Warning or Note, what the problem is and how to fix it, plus the order's priority, direction, zone, volume, value, contract, source and creation time. For an accepted order, it tells you where the order is now.
All orders view¶
Filter chips by stage, each with a count: All, Exceptions, Received, Validation, Planning, To dispatch, In transit and Completed. The table shows ORDER / CUSTOMER, ROUTE, SERVICE, STAGE, WINDOW / ETA, VALUE, SLA (a coloured dot) and NEXT STEP. A green bar appears when you arrive from the Overview with a date filter; Clear date filter removes it.
The search box at the top of the screen filters whichever view you are on. Several words must all match, for example doha reefer.
What you can do¶
Accept a clean order. Click the dark button on its row. Its label says what happens next (for example Validate order or Approve → planning). The order moves forward.
Accept an order that failed a check.
- Click Accept anyway on its row.
- In the Accept anyway dialog, enter who authorised it and why.
- Click Accept & record the override. The order moves on and your reason is kept on its history.
Decline an order.
- Click Decline on its row.
- In the Decline order dialog, write the reason.
- Click Decline order. The order leaves the intake queue and shows in the Exception stage with the reason attached.
Look at one order. Click an order number, or Open order → on an accepted row, to open Order details.
Move an order on from the flat list. The right-hand button on each row is the next step for its stage (for example Confirm plan, Open its trip, Track live, Resolve exception or Send to billing).
Record proof of delivery. On orders that are In transit or in Exception, click Capture POD. See Capture proof of delivery.
Popups and panels¶
Order details¶
A panel that slides in from the right. It opens from any order number anywhere in the Control Tower, not only on this screen.
- Header: the order number, its stage, the customer, the service and the delivery window.
- Active exception (red box, only if there is one): what went wrong and the penalty exposure.
- Route: origin, destination and distance.
- TRIP, VEHICLE, DRIVER: which trip carries the order and who is driving. Not dispatched means the order is on no trip yet; Awaiting assignment means it is on a trip with no driver. Click the trip reference to open the Dispatch board.
- LIFECYCLE: the steps Received, Validated, Planned, Dispatched, In transit, Delivered, with the current one marked. In an exception the current step reads In transit — exception.
- COMMERCIALS: revenue, cost and margin.
- Footer: a green button for the next step of the order's stage, and Close.
Accept anyway¶
Opens when you accept an order that failed a check. It lists the failed checks under YOU ARE OVERRIDING. Fill in Authorised by (the name of the person releasing the order) and Justification (why it may go ahead). Both are required. Accept & record the override is greyed out until both are filled in. Cancel leaves the order where it is.
Decline order¶
Opens when you decline an order. If checks failed, they are listed under WHY VALIDATION FAILED. Write the Reason for declining, which is required, is sent to the customer with the order and is kept on the order's history. Declined by is optional and defaults to GWC Operations. Keep it in the queue closes the dialog without declining.
Capture proof of delivery¶
Opens from Capture POD. Use it when a delivery is completed by phone and nobody has recorded it in the driver app.
- Received by (required) and Role (optional) of the person who took the goods.
- Signature: the receiver signs in the box with a mouse or finger. Clear starts again.
- Photographs: captions, separated by commas. Only captions are saved for now; photos are not uploaded.
- Exception: No exception — delivered in full, Short delivery, Damage, Customer refusal, Access denied or Other. If you pick one, describe it in Notes.
- Click Capture POD to save. The record is attributed to you, and the customer can see it immediately.

Tips¶
- I cannot find an order in the intake queue. Once an order is accepted it shows under the Accepted chip. Orders past intake (planned, on the road, delivered) are only in the flat list.
- The Decline button is missing. Accepted rows offer Open order → only. An order that has been accepted can no longer be declined at intake.
- The Accept button is greyed out in a dialog. Both fields are required; very short entries are refused.
- A date in red. An order with no requested date cannot be planned. Open it and correct it first.
- Search finds nothing. Search covers what is on screen: order number, customer, route, service, reference and, in the flat list, vehicle and driver.
